About the Owner

Dave Martin, owner and founder of DRM Landscapes, has over 20 years of landscape design, construction and maintenance experience. Dave has lived in San Diego most of his life and has become very passionate about seizing the opportunity to beautify this corner of the Earth we call home.

Dave's career in landscape began in the 1970's at Russ' Tree Service in San Diego as a tree climber and groundsman. This provided the perfect foundation for Dave's love for trees and landscape to take root and grow. He later worked for the City of Escondido as a Public Works Technician, where his responsibilities included maintaining and growing Municipal Utility grounds and landscapes. There, Dave received multiple levels of Pest Control and Management certifications.

He then moved to Henderson, Nevada, and was employed by the National Gold Medal Winning, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. As a parks field supervisor, Dave led his team to great success in the Nevada desert, providing award winning excellence in Parks Maintenance and Public Service. Here, Mr. Martin obtained numerous certifications and equipment operation training, as well as, a Certification from the Irrigation Association in "Irrigation Systems Auditing". He also continued his education in horticulture at the College of Southern Nevada.

In 2004, Dave made the move to Residential Landscape Development and was recruited by Pardee Homes Nevada Division. First, working as a Landscape Construction Superintendent, which led him to the Landscape Architecture Marketing Department as a Landscape Coordinator. Here is where his landscape design and architectural experience began to take off. Working closely with seasoned Landscape Architects and Designers, Dave's passion and knowledge for distinct landscapes grew.

Dave takes pride in his consummate dedication to detail, which greatly contributed to the 2008 Gold Medal awarded to Pardee for Best Landscape in the Nation - Detached Community (Tremezzo Project at Lake Las Vegas). He was also awarded the coveted, "Presidents Award" by the Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Division for his contribution of excellence in Project Management.

Now holding a C-27 State of California Specialty Landscape Construction License, Dave is positioning himself and DRM Landscapes to be one of the premier landscape companies in the greater San Diego area. He is already a preferred contractor to the 2007 San Diego Fire victims and has been involved in numerous fire rebuilds in and around San Diego's North County.
